Form is interesting, the energy that animates that form even more so.

SUSAN WASINGER takes inspiration from things all-too-often overlooked in our busy life.
The pas-de-deux of a gear, the wagging tail of a letterform, the paradiddle of a seedpod,
the twirl of a melody, the armature of a mountain, the breath of a wind, the twinkle of a grin.
It is these things, hidden and unbidden, that populate her paintings, allowing the eye to dance and
to linger on the energy and impulses that animate our world.
Beeswax and resin and natural pigments come alive under the heat of the torch, the surface can be carved with ideas.
Energy = change. Change = growth. Growth = life. These paintings look for the animation within landscapes.
Living beings, behaviors and impulses, may not be what they seem to be on the surface.
The mysterious worlds under the sea have their irresistible siren song. The water itself feels like a sentient being.
Works on paper, small impulsive things. Ideas that are just starting. Impulses captured on the road.
